A worthy shout-out, I reckon. As with the much-maligned Gris/Grigio—understandably given the ocean of beige examples out there—I think Blanc/Bianco shows intrigue worthy of the Pinot family name when given some good dirt and attention. Between Alsace, Baden, Alto Adige and elsewhere there are compelling cases being made. I’m not familiar with Bender’s spin on it, but done right, this Burgunder can be one of my Weisses.

Agreed! I was looking at the bottle (empty) this morning and thinking I really should have gushed more about it! It is so amazingly balanced and complex …and at such a great price!

It's Pinot Bianco in Italy. Blanco is Spanish, and off the top of my head I can't think of anyone who has Pinot Blanc planted in Spain.
